How to setup a blog to promote your website

Submitted by SEO on Tuesday, 3 April 2007No Comment

Blogs are websites that are easy to update. They are also loved by search engines like Google because they usually have fresh up to date content. One way to promote your website is to start a blog about your website. In this article we will look at different options for starting your own blog.

First of all, where to get your blog. You can install a wordpress blog on your website, check your control panel and see if it is already available, or you can get a freely hosted blog from blogger.com or wordpress.com. If you want full control of the hosting, go to wordpress.org and download and install on your website.

Next, what to put in your blog. A blog is usually an online diary or news site. You can put pretty much anything there! But the best things to write about are more personal and chatty than a business site or press release.

Finally, When you have a blog setup - try to post to it at least several times a week. Every day would be even better. Visit other people’s blogs - especially on the same topic as yours (use Google or some other search engine to find them) and leave comments with a link back to your blog.

Don’t forget to link to the website that you are promoting from your blog. It is also ok to have blog posts about the website that you are promoting - just try to make them interesting and personal.
